I’ve been trying to branch out lately and ‘read’ some new bloggers, which is when I came across a post by Kina Diaz DeLeon from Human In Recovery titled ‘Games Bloggers Play’. The post involved a game of blogging ‘tag’ whereby people are tagged and then tasked with answering some questions about themselves via a post on their blog.
I thought it was a great idea, especially when stuck with something to write about, so I took Kina’s suggestion and tagged myself, so that I could to join in with the game.
As always, there are rules:
- Post the rules
- Answer the questions the tagger set for the post
- Create 11 new questions to ask the people you’ve tagged (or the existing ones)
- Tag (eleven – well I’ve tagged 7) people with a link to your post
- Let them know they’ve been tagged
Here are my answers!
What is the thing that makes you want to get out of bed each day? My dogs bladder, and my bladder. They seem to be quite synchronised these days.
What do you tell yourself to get through painful, difficult, or challenging times? Everything happens for a reason.
What can you look back on and remind yourself you were successful at, or were strong enough to come through? 18 years of depression. I believe I may finally be through the other side…fingers crossed.
Look around you at this moment and choose one thing to smile about or be thankful for. What is it? That Denis is alive, after quite a scare.
If you could do anything at this moment to make yourself happy, what would it be? Get a massage, after weeks of talking about it!
Do you have a special place, real or imagined, where you go to in your mind or reality to regroup, seek peace, or just be? The beach. There’s just something therapeutic about it – it calms me and clears those cobwebs out of my brain.
Has there been a particular book that you have read that inspired or motivated you to seek your potential? ‘Journey to Leadership’. It’s a book I actually co-authored with an amazing bunch of women. The experience, and reading their stories, change my life. I’ve never looked back.
What childhood fable, fairytale, or movie stretched your imagination and sticks with you today? Jim Henson’s Labyrinth. I still adore this movie and all of the characters. The one line that sticks with me is when Sarah tells the Goblin King after a journey of self-realisation: ”You have no power over me.”
What is your favorite form of art and artist (anyone and anything you consider art qualifies)? Michelangelo. Whether it was the paintings in (and on) the Sistine Chapel or his sculptures throughout Italy and France, I fell in love with the beauty he created, especially ‘La Pieta’ at St Peter’s Basilica in Italy, a striking sculpture of Mary with the lifeless body of Jesus draped over her lap. I’m not religious, but the sculpture is breathtaking and stunning.
Do you have a personal anthem, a song, that reminds you of who you are and want to be, that represents the ideal of you? All I comes to mind is ‘Cosmic Girl’ by Jamiroquai…I’ve always felt an affinity with that song!
What did you experience while answering these questions? Memories of some good times and beauty
And now for the tagging! I’m going to give a shout out to my rocking group of PBAU vixens
Barbara, Muriel, Cathy, Lucy, Lalia, as well as some other blogging friends, Sarah and Psych Babbler. Feel free to answer the same questions I did, but no pressure, as I know we are all so busy these days!
**As per Kina’s post, if you like this game and want to join in, please feel free to tag yourself in my comments and create your own post with a link back to this post. The more, the merrier!**

Janine,
I’m so happy you decided to join in the fun! Looking forward to reading more from you.
Blessings,
Kina
And it was fun! Look forward to reading you too Kina. I think we have some things in common, from looking at your about page.
It’s amazing how shake-you-to-the-core experiences (e.g. sickness, illnesses, etc) really put things in perspective and make us see more clearly. Fun post Janine!
So true Joy. I’m glad I can see it this way these days
Thanks Janine! =) You had such beautiful and thoughtful answers
You’re welcome Lalia
Fun game and I love your answers, Janine! Thanks for the tagging! Like you said: no pressure! But it is highly tempting
Thanks for tagging me Janine! I think that you should get this massage asap. You more than deserve it!
I got the massage!!! It was great. And then I had accupunture twice last week (because of a migraine…but it was great!). Today I’m off to get my lashes tinted and eyebrows attended to. I seem to have forgotten about my eyebrows…
