This photo is of my little sister, Eloise, and I.

We are sitting on the top of an open-topped double-decker bus, touring the streets of London. We’ve got headphones in our ears as we are listening to the witty commentary of the guide, whilst taking in the sounds of London.

The photo was taken by us almost 5 years ago to this day…I can remember the dates so clearly as this was where I spent my 30th. And on this very day, I was helping Eloise celebrate her 22nd birthday. You see, our birthdays are one day apart.

I love this photo. You see, with the age difference, I was out of home when my sister was still quite young. I studied, worked, travelled, partied and fell into a relationship. Sis also developed a large circle of friends (quite the socialite she is!) and a very busy lifestyle so we never really spent a lot of time together after I moved out of home.

This trip was a major bonding experience for Eloise and I. The trip didn’t exactly go to plan, and we were travelling as a threesome, as it was D’s first trip to Europe…and yes – it’s true what they say, sometimes three is a crowd. But we have such great memories, including the one taken in this shot, and returned home understanding each other more…it bought us closer, and I am very thankful for the experience.

  1. Memories like this are what make up a lifetime Janine. Wonderful photo. Thank you for sharing your moment with us.

  2. I have two sisters; aren’t sisters such a blessing!

The picture is lovely and yes sister bonding time is the best!

  3. I love this picture. You can definitely tell you are sisters. My sister and I will be leaving in two weeks for a vacation on the east coast. This is my first visit to your blog, will stop by again.

    • Hi Ann,

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you and your sister have a fabulous vacation with loads of memorable moments :)
