Face your fears with Promise or Pay

Face your fears with Promise or Pay

Finding the motivation to look after your body and mind can be hard.

While nearly two-thirds of adults set wellbeing-related New Year’s resolutions, 73 percent end up throwing in the towel before too long. The fact is, it’s difficult to make positive behavior changes!

Enthusiasm is great, but starting out too fast and without a clear vision of where you’re going can be detrimental. You are more likely to adjust to change if you’re patient and consistent, after all, gradual progress is still progress! It’s important to be kind to yourself, to take small steps, and to ramp up slowly – that way you may even start to enjoy the ritual!

What is Promise or Pay?

While sticking to self-improvement goals can be difficult, research shows you’re chance of success increases by 33% if it’s shared with others, and by up to 72% if money is on the line.

Promise or Pay is an online social motivation platform that helps you stick to your goals by putting your money on the line for charity. Promise or Pay helps people achieve everyday goals while making positive behavioural changes, expanding on traditional fundraising platforms by implementing real accountability through a distinctive social engagement experience and by making users put their own money on the line and having Supporter’s only donate if their goal is achieved.

Promise or Pay motivates people to do the things they most want to do with their lives while creating a more personal and empowering way to donate to charities that make a better world! What makes this awesome is that regardless of the outcome money is donated to charity!
Keep your promise, your Supporters donate. Break your promise YOU donate. It’s win-win!

Promise or Pay motivates you to achieve your healthy and wellness goals while creating a more engaging, personal and empowering way to donate to charities that make a better world. One promise can make a huge difference – what will yours be?

September Challenge – IT’S TIME TO FACE YOUR FEARS

During September, Promise or Pay is challenging you to #FaceYourFears alongside Australian YouTube sensation, Brittney Lee Saunders. We want to create a movement of people who set up and put their fears behind them; the time has come for us to put our minds, bodies, and demons to rest and challenge ourselves. So Join us and our selected charity partner, Suicide Prevention Australia, and #FaceYourFears this September.

About Jay Boolkin

I’m driven by the desire to help others. I’m passionate about positive social change and I believe in the power of social entrepreneurship to tackle some of the world’s biggest problems. I get inspired by small actions that have the power to bring about big change and love engaging with like-minded people who give more to the world than they take.

I founded Promise or Pay while living and working full-time in Cambodia as an Australian Youth Ambassador for Development, helping a local HIV/AIDS education and advocacy non-government organisation with their strategic planning. The idea was born out of my own struggles to achieve personal goals as well as my experience within the not-for-profit sector and the desperate need for alternatives to hard sell fundraising tactics.

I won the Social Startups MVP Program, a worldwide competition based on social impact scalability. I was a finalist for the Sydney Genesis Best Social Start-up, received an honourable mention in The Guardian’s Activate Tech Talent Day, and won the Deloitte Australia Social Innovation Pitch Competition.

I have recently been one of Australia’s top 50 young social entrepreneurs selected to complete the Foundation for Young Australia’s Young Social Pioneers program, and I have just received a 2015 Myer Innovation Fellowship.
