Whatever happened to sensible hemlines?

Whatever happened to sensible hemlines?

Whatever happened to sensible hemlines?

I’ve been having this issue for a few years. I go shopping to look for a nice dress or skirt with a hemline that goes to my knees or below but I struggle to find something.

What is it with the ‘belts’ that are portraying themselves as skirts and ‘shirts’ trying to fool me into thinking that they are a dress.  They may fool other people!  And no, I’m not shopping in the teeny bopper stores. At the age of 36 I’ve finally moved on to shop elsewhere, but still – short skirts and dresses.

And don’t get me started on SHORTS!  I don’t particularly want to see someones ass cheeks hanging out of their shorts, and I especially don’t want to see their undies OR their vagina!  But it seems to be in fashion.  That doesn’t mean I’ll be letting my ass cheeks experience fresh air anytime soon.

Okay, I wish I could pull of the shorter than daisy-dukes (D thinks I can), but I’ve had stretch marks since I was a teenager, and well, I’m self conscious and 36 – so no, I won’t be going there.

Have I turned into a Nanna?

I want to pay credit to a store in Leederville called YoYo Buffalo, where I recently picked up a 1950’s style black pencil skirt. Mid-calve length, fits nicely, looks good.  It’s just too perfect to wear to work 🙂 I should have bought 2…

Hi Janine. Excellent blog you write here. I thought I was the only one who has a problem finding the right kind of dress or top whenever I want to do some shopping to buy some clothes for myself. Unfortunately it is fashion these days and not many people are aware that it is showing parts of the body that should not be revealed or exposed. Huhu. But what to do? And no, I don’t think you have become a nanna. I think you have become wiser 😀

Hey Siti, How are you? Glad you liked the post! Don’t feel alone, there are a few of us out there! You think I’m wiser, how kind!

I’m sure you will look stunning in whatever you choose.
While I prefer the shorter skirts, I am not seeking the Britney Spears (forgive any mistakes in spelling) fashion disclosures on anyone!

Good grief! I’m right there with you when trying to find clothes! I didn’t like my thighs hanging out there before I had my son and I totally don’t want them out there now!!! 🙂

If I can see you’re pockets sticking you – you’re wearing it wrong!

These short shorts drive me CRAZY!!!…And trust me, I don’t mean that in a good way at all. I don’t know when it happened, who started it, or why but I find it nonsensical and repulsive.

Janine, you need to talk to my teenage daughter. She loved these shorts and they all have them. Go figure…
