The Red Heads Homage to Photography: The 366 Photo Project

A different kind of post today. A different kind because I’ve embarked on a new project thanks to my friend Barbara Klein from Late Bloomers.

A few days ago I noticed Barbara had started something called the 366 Photo Project, so I commented on Facebook about how cool it sounded.  In her way, Barbara challenged me to do it…and once again we were on the same wavelength as I’d already started investigating it!

The difference with the 366 Photo Project is that you do all your posting for the project on Tumblr…something I have never really gotten into (even though I’ve had a Tumblr account for a while).

Anyhow, I’ve started the project and it’s going well.  I have only shared some old photos at the moment, but do hope to get out there with the camera soon to play.

If you have time, check out my page and photos on Tumblr.  And if you are an active Tumblr user, feel welcome to connect with me.

And I’m being serious now – if anyone can give me the lowdown on Tumblr please do! Thanking you in advance.

Christmas morning, Yallingup Beach

This is a photo I took Christmas morning at Yallingup Beach, located down south in Western Australia.  I wondered down to the beach to have a look, families were out, as was the tide, and I took hundreds of photos.  This is one of my faves.  It’s not as focussed as I would have liked, but it’s different.

As 2011 comes to a close it’s time for some reflection, after all this is Reflections From a Red Head after all! I started dedicating every Monday to photography way back in March 2011, really as a prompt for me … Continue reading

The Red Heads Homage to Photography: Yallingup Beach

On the weekend of 25 November I found myself hitting the open road for a weekend away ‘down south’ (as us West Aussies say).

Specifically, I headed to the coastal town of Yallingup (an aboriginal word meaning ‘Place of Love’) located about 4 hours south of Perth.

I was in store for a wonderful weekend with some of my family, great food, lots of laughs, a lot of sun, sand, and surf.

It was a welcome opportunity to whip out the camera and play, something of which I have had been a bit slack in doing lately due to my battle with my good old nemesis – fatigue.

Here are some of the pics…I think they would have looked awesome if I had had a better lens so I could have zoomed in more!

The Red Heads Homage to Photography: Nature

Today’s photos come to you courtesy of my partner, Denis Defontaine.  They were taken on a ‘family walk’ last weekend (family consisting of our pooch, Denis and I).

It truly is amazing what you can find when you get out in the open air and open your eyes to what is around you!

If you are interested in seeing more of Denis’ artwork, you can find him at http://ArrogantOne.deviantart.com/

The Red Heads Homage to Photography, and Travel

I have incredibly itchy feet at the moment – and it’s been building for a while.  I mean, I haven’t been overseas at all this year! Unbelievable!

Yes, it could be worse, but seeing that travel is my number #1 passion, I’m suffering from a bit of travel blues (those that have travelled would know exactly what I’m talking about).

This will probably make things worse, but today I am going to share with you some of my favourite travel pics.

For those in my home town of Perth, well, we all know it’s been a pretty horrendous week for the dreaded hay-fever.  I mean, even people who have never suffered – even slightly – from hay-fever before, well, they are … Continue reading
