Sometimes it’s really hard to see the bright side of life, especially when it feels like the whole frickin’ world is against you.
I think we’ve all had those days, weeks, months (and even hours) where it feels like we are swimming against the grain, or as I like to say, pushing shit up a hill. When good old Murphy and his laws are fully in effect, and we’re tossing up whether whatever is happening is going to happen in three’s…or more.
In the times you feel like you are down for the count, this is when it is especially important to open up your eyes to see the brighter side of life. To take in all of the beauty and the joy around you. The little baby looking up in awe at the strange world around them. The pregnant woman, who in all her glory, emits a sense of strength and pride. It all comes down to personal choice – that is, whether we CHOOSE to see the bad or the good stuff. It is in these times where we need to choose to open our eyes and see the world with a new filter – a positive filter.
What do you see right now?
Open yourself up to your surroundings.
The trees, as their shapes and colours change throughout the seasons, the old man who revels at the sight of his grandchildren as they grow and explore the world, the brilliance of an evening sunset as you drive home from work, the feeling of warmth that encompasses your entire body as you connect with someone during a hug, or the sight of your Grandad holding your Gran’s hand tenderly as they walk through the crowded shopping centre, after 50 years of marriage.
It is when you allow yourself to be caught up in the moment that the beauty around you reveals itself and everything else fades away. It is in those moments when stress and anxiety slip away and you live and experience life fully.
The elderly woman who glows whilst sharing memories of her husband. The puppy who takes pleasure in tormenting it’s older companion. The teenage boy who shows such pride over his ‘new’ car, purchased with his own savings. Or the stars…the stars that surprise you on a weekend getaway…yes, they are still there in all of their glory.
Life is beautiful, precious, and bright for those who choose to open their eyes to see and experience it. It’s your choice.
