The 99 things I love most in the world

The 99 things I love most in the world

As the tides change and you start a new chapter in life, what better time to explore what you love.

Here’s 99 things I love most in this world. Be it food, drink, people, things, places… anything. It doesn’t matter how small. These are things that bring me joy, tantalise my tastebuds, make me laugh and smile, and warm my heart.

  1. D, of course. He is my main man, my soon-to-be husband, and my world.
  2. Being engaged to the man I love.
  3. A hearty curry cooked by my man.
  4. My fur child, Miss K.
  5. Snuggles with my puppy in bed the morning – naughty I know!
  6. Being newly independent, having quit the corporate world and project management, this time on my own terms.
  7. Having the freedom to do what I love, whatever the hell that may be at any given time.
  8. The beach at sunset, breeze in the hair, waves lapping at the shore.
  9. Adult colouring books – LOVE!
  10. Me-time. The introvert in me craves it, the thinker in me loves it, and my body, mind and soul need it.
  11. A good takeaway coffee.
  12. Singapore, where part of my heart lies with a kindred spirit and soul sister.
  13. A good, addictive TV series…The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Supernatural…
  14. Having red hair. It took me long enough to like and love it!Finding Happiness Where You Least Expect It
  15. Super hero movies.
  16. Our home. It’s old, it’s cluttered and it’s falling apart. But it’s home and I love it. There really is no place like it.
  17. The onset of the warmer weather (minus the pollen…).
  18. Dogs. Yes. I’m a dog person, what can I say!
  19. The Foo Fighters…or is it Dave Grohl I love the most? Hmmm let me ponder that for a moment or three…
  20. Freshly washed and conditioned hair (with a decent conditioner that leaves your hair feeling soft, luscious, and smelling divine).
  21. My beautiful nieces. I hardly get to see them, but I love them to bits.
  22. Being a step-mum. It’s pretty awesome.
  23. A good book you can’t put down. I don’t have a lot of time to read these days, and a good page turner is few and far between, but I’m always open to suggestions and am craving some time off where I can just sit and soak up a good book.
  24. Burning scented candles, oils and incense.
  25. Having good skin. Having suffered with eczema and acne over the last 38 years, I treasure having good skin.
  26. Meeting people who inspire me with their spunk, spirit and passion – even when they don’t realise it!
  27. A hot shower at the end of a long day, or any day.
  28. Clean towels fresh out of the dryer.
  29. Snuggles on the couch with my man and pooch at the end of a long day.
  30. Seeing my pooch running free and happy.
  31. Watching D create a piece of artwork. His talent astounds me, and I love how serene he looks when he is deep in concentration creating something stunning…and he doesn’t even realise any of it.
  32. Receiving my monthly issue of Empire magazine in the post. Nothing beats good physical mail you can pull out of a post box.
  33. My red car. It’s so battered and bruised, and it’s absolutely filthy, but it enables my independence and provides me with a sense of freedom to be able to go where I want when I want.
  34. Having money to put fuel in my car…those long months I didn’t have any money to put fuel in my car were depressing.
  35. Earning enough money to cover the bills, food and a little extra. It has been a bloody stressful two years and it’s lovely to finally be able to splurge a little on things such as a nice moisturiser or taking D out to an impromptu lunch.
  36. A good pillow. Can’t go through life without it!
  37. Helping others.
  38. Seeing D happy.
  39. Those friends you can go a year without seeing, but when you do see them, it’s like you saw them yesterday.
  40. The moon and stars on a cloudless night.
  41. Writing / blogging (when I have the time!)
  42. Big, long, heartfelt bear hugs.
  43. Birds. I just love them. I’ve become in tune with their song and movement over the last few months, which is both bizarre and beautiful. In a way it explains my new tattoo.
  44. My new – and first – tattoo. It is symbolic in so many ways.

My new - and first - tattoo. It is symbolic in so many ways.

  45. Travel. Anywhere…anytime…
  46. Music that touches the heart and soul.
  47. The diversity of what I do, every single day. If I don’t have diversity I stagnate.
  48. Continual learning and growth.
  49. Sleep ins. This girl loves her sleep, and she loves to sleep in. She’s also not a morning person…although she’s trying.
  50. A freshly made bed.
  51. Fantasy wedding planning…although with 4 months to go it’s not so much a fantasy anymore and I really need to start DOING!
  52. Revisiting the music I loved in the 90’s. Grunge, Boybands, Drum and Bass..
  53. A comfy, well-fitted pair of blue jeans. I purchased my first pair of Guess jeans earlier in the year and I love them so much because they fit like a glove.
  54. My laptop. It’s my lifeline, main business tool, and shield.
  55. Relaxing, which could also be interpreted as laziness.
  56. Road tripping with my man and dog with the windows down, wind in our hair, and music up loud – preferably rock music.
  57. Comfy pyjamas, all the better for sleeping in.
  58. D’s cooking. In ten years he’s only had three failures. Every other meal has satisfied my belly and warmed my heart.
  59. Comfy shoes. I hardly have any…and I’d love many!
  60. Mindfulness. I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it again. Life changer.
  61. Being strong enough to finally not be dragged down by the naysayers, negative nelly’s and jealous types who insist on trying to drag one down time after time after time.
  62. Snuggling under a warm rug in front of the heater in winter.
  63. Yoga…when I do it that is. I really need to make more time for it.
  64. Good news, told to me personally…not broadcast publicly via a post over Facebook.
  65. A nice hot cup of tea is the cure to almost anything – and a biscuit, preferably shortbread 🙂A nice hot cup of tea is the cure to almost anything - and a biscuit, preferably shortbread :)
  66. Gift giving. I haven’t had a lot of money to give gifts over the last few weeks, and yes, it’s the thought that counts…but I still like to give people little quirky gifts and books. I am the book lady, and I love finding books about things people are passionate about and surprising them with it.
  67. A good, strong handshake.
  68. Belly laughs.
  69. A well made, tasty, cheesy lasagne.
  70. Feeling healthy. It doesn’t happen a lot, but when it does it feels awesome!
  71. Sober living. I’m enjoying it so much more than I ever thought I would.
  72. Walking along a beach with the fine-grained sand massaging your feet as the sun sets slowly up above.
  73. Reminiscing over old photographs.
  74. Organic cosmetics. There are so many brands available now, and it still pays to read the labels and triple check the ingredients, but my skin is incredibly grateful there are so many choices available these days that are AFFORDABLE.
  75. I don’t go out often, and I don’t have a great selection in my wardrobe, but I do love getting frocked up when I get the chance 🙂
  76. Naps. I’m such a nanna.
  77. Massages.
  78. Feeling comfortable in my skin. It took me years to feel it and accept it, and I am so incredibly happy to say that these days I only have the rare few days where I feel uncomfortable in my skin.
  79. Podcasts. I’m really late to that party!
  80. Working with people who make me laugh. Thanks Dee and Irene. You’re the reason I survived.
  81. Working with people I can learn from.
  82. Conquering fears by confronting them. Next one on the list – being knocked out by anaesthetic. 7 October is teeth-pulling day. I’m freaking the fuck out – over the anaesthetic, not the teeth pulling or pain!
  83. Reconnecting with people after many years apart.
  84. My legit ugg boots. I never thought I’d own a pair, and never wanted a pair until last year, but after receiving a pair as a gift last year they have become a welcome addition to my ‘at home’ wardrobe. They are so much more superior than the knock offs!
  85. Seeing people in the moment and genuinely happy.
  86. Planning our wedding playlist. It’s bloody hard as between the two of us we love so much good music, and trying to whittle it down to ‘one song for this’ and ‘one song for that’ is torture…but it’s also fun listening to the music and revisiting the memories so many songs trigger.
  87. Cherry blossoms are so beautiful and could be the inspiration behind my second tattoo (if I get one). Seeing the cherry blossoms in Japan is definitely on our bucket list!
  88. Trees. Don’t you just love trees. The different shapes, colours and textured. The sound the leaves make as they rustle. The fact that they are a home and source of sustenance to so many birds and other species. Trees are amazing – aside from when they try to kill you with random falling branches…
  89. Exploring my city as a tourist. There’s so much to discover.
  90. Dishwashers. Because who has time for washing dishes!
  91. My family. We’re a crazy, loveable bunch 🙂
  92. Getting my eyelashes tinted. One of the few girly things I do…it makes my eyes pop!
  93. Growing up I was never the kind of girl who dreamt of a wedding or a sparkly ring, but I am quite taken by my sparkly engagement ring and I’m uber excited about the impending arrival of my dress (here it is) courtesy of Grace Loves Lace.
  94. Chocolate ice cream
  95. Dark chocolate. I’ve only started enjoying dark chocolate over the last few years. It’s hard to go back to dairy milk chocolate afterwards!
  96. During my recent 90 day sexy sobriety challenge as I set out to explore substitutes to booze, I learnt to like soda, something I’d previously detested. It’s now my drink of choice. I’m such a cheap date now!
  97. Being an idiot. Ask he people who know me well and they will tell you I’m crazy just like them. I love injecting periods of idiocy into my days, after all, life’s too short to be serious!
  98. Fresh warm bread slathered in butter
  99. Paris.

Paris is always a good idea

I love trees too, funny that when I left my dream house I was saddest to leave my big gum trees! I will miss looking out at them the most. But on to new things . . . Just like you, new and wonderful adventures ahead with work and a wedding! I love how you talk about your pooch, I give Holly-Rose cuddles in bed too. Great list and what a great prompt it turned out to be!
