In August, I turned forty-five.
I always take my birthday off from work.
It’s one of my ‘rules’ for life.
And even though this year sees me working for myself full-time, it was no exception.
I cleared my day, so I could do anything I wanted (or nothing).
Before my birthday, I’d envisaged some pampering, a massage and facial (it’s been years since I’ve had either), yummy food, a nice walk with the dog, and dinner out and about with my hubby.
However, when it came to the day, I was blessed with a sunny day.
And so I decided to go with the flow
A nature walk with my dog.
A jaunt to the shops for a little retail therapy (I purchased some flowy red pants perfect for summer business meetings).
A delicious gluten-free lunch with a good book in a cafe somewhere (you can read more here)
A home-cooked meal with Denis (Thai Green Chicken Curry, one of my favourite meals) followed by couch time and some Netflix.
And I spent only 10 minutes in front of the computer!
And do you know what?
I had such a wonderful, relaxing day; it was a welcome reminder that I was on the right track in redesigning my life to something more aligned with my Highly Sensitive nature.
A more balanced life.
More peaceful.
There’s something to be said for making space in your life, be it a few minutes, hours, a day, or even more.
Space to think.
Space to create.
Space to breathe.
And space to just … be.
